CARNA AN CHEOIL & NA NAMHRÁN

For over a century, music collectors have flocked to Carna, drawn by its rich Gaelic traditions. The echoes of those early collectors still linger in Carna today, and their recordings continue to shape its cultural identity. In this programme, we immerse ourselves in Carna’s vibrant heritage, exploring the treasures passed down through generations and meeting the new wave of locals proudly keeping their native culture alive today. We explore the sound and film archives, bringing to light beautiful examples of Carna’s oral art forms – music, dance, and song – that have long resonated through this remarkable village.
